古代中国では王侯が墳墓を造営しその培葬品としてつくられた様々な形象土偶、ヒトカタ～人形、これを「俑」（よう）と言う。明器（めいき）の一種、中国の人形明器には「俑」の名称を用いる。凡そ世界文明の発祥と時を同じくして人類は自らの生存する周囲の事象を可能な限りモデリングし、形象人形として自らの墳墓を飾り、彼らの黄泉への旅立ちが安寧なものとなるよう絶大なる情熱を傾注した。それら古代の造営になる墳墓群は後世の私たちにとって世界文明に共通する人類文化発展への最大限の道標証ともなったのである。

本展では古代中国に広大な覇権を記した漢時代から、嘗ては史上最も文芸が勃興し隆盛した時代と言われる宋時代までの「陶俑」の変遷を展示いたします。広大な中国大陸に覇を唱えた気概溢れる文明の息吹と造形の美しさをお楽しみください。

The high royalties and titled nobilities in the ancient age of China enormously accorded the social customs of constructing the huge tombs and buried numberes of many cray figures of various kinds of their dairy lives appurtenances. Among the world's ancient civilizations, we could know that some of particular resemblings of common points of view throughout most of all the worlds' heritage civilizations. The peoples modeled of their neighbored materials and their own related persons and animals to decorate their own tomb chambers luxuriouly while tｈey wished their eternal journeies might be in safe and in good order. Due to those gigantic tomb constructions, the later civilized modern aged humanbeings like us were able to trace how the mankind could develope and civilize through these works of art.

The exhibition may contains from the ancient age of Han dynasty till Song dynasty when the Chinese culture boomed into the best and well rendered, and it reached in full matured in culture. In those periods, the Chinese cultural developments prvailed widely in the Chinese continent.
