古九谷　－　
この語感のもつ響きはなんと古美術の世界では偉大なものであろう。
このたび、あるコレクターご所蔵の江戸時代早期・17世紀に生まれた古九谷色絵磁器の優品、
約六十余点の展示即売をいたします。

歳月をかけ集められた古九谷色絵磁器。
そのそれぞれにコレクターの透徹した眼力の高さが光る。
丹念に、そしておしみない情熱を傾けて蒐集され、
そして今そのひとつひとつが強烈に個性を主張し合う、
比類なき色絵磁器-　古九谷　–それは日本色絵磁器の頂点にあるべきもの。

五寸皿―五十撰集。
七寸皿―七撰集。
そして一尺を超える大きな皿一件をも含む。
さまざまな造形。さまざまな絵付け。そのデザインの秀逸さ。
日本色絵磁器に燦然と、そして偉大な光彩を放つ「古九谷色絵の粋」。

INTRODUCTION

The name of Ko-kutani is famous and echo for its absolute unique decoration of porcelain art which was born in Japan in the early 17th century, early Edo period. The birth and development raise of Ko-kutani ware was mysterious and a hidden story for many centuries, however recent detailed research and study of Ko-kutani ware have lead us to newly revealed facts.

It is our great pleasure to announce our special exhibition of Ko-kutani ware from a private collection.
The exhibition includes a selection of fifty ‘Gosun-Sara’ or 15cm diameter small dishes collection of various decorations and types, a selection of seven ‘Nanasun-Sara’ or 21cm diameter dishes, together with an extremely rare and fine ‘Aode’ type decorated large Dish with birds among a lotus pond design in colorful ‘Aode’ type decoration. This unique private collection took many years to assemble, and it reflects the collector’ s fully educated personal taste and choices that targeted the highest quality.
The connoisseur who loves works of art will find new pleasure in these particularly charming and stunning decorations. May this special perspective bring you to a deeper depth of enjoyment of the 350 years Japanese porcelain art.
